About the program:
Falls are the leading cause of unintentional injury in Australians 65 years and older and the cost of falls and falls injury is significant. At least one in four older people have a fall each year. Falls Prevention aims to break this cycle and both with exercise and education, help minimise the risk of falling in the future.
Who can benefit from this program?
You may be suitable for a Falls Prevention/ Balance Rehabilitation program if you have fallen in the last 6 months, if you avoid outings for fear of falling or if you feel anxious about your balance.
The program aims:
Each patient is assessed individually by our rehabilitation team under the direction of an accredited Rehabilitation Specialist, who together will develop a rehabilitation plan according to the individual’s particular needs. Our multidisciplinary team will work with each patient to help them regain independence and resume their day to day life.
Our multidisciplinary approach
Our team works closely under the direction of the Rehabilitation Specialist (a Fellow of the Australian Facility of Rehabilitation Medicine or equivalent), in collaboration with you, your GP or Specialist to achieve a holistic assessment and integrated treatment regime dedicated to minimising the effect of disability. Our multi-disciplinary team works with our patients to help them regain independence and resume their day to day life.
Falls Prevention and Balance Rehabilitation is provided by the physiotherapists and exercise physiologists on an individual basis and within small group. Hydrotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Dietitian sessions are also available.
